Going Formal: Mykita Holly

Mykita Holly

Going formal in glasses can be tricky. Some people immediately venture into the world of "stones" or rimless when they want to put on the ritz, while others feel like going bold is the way to go. Also, the question of what jewelry will complement your frame without competing with it inevitably comes up. While I tend to leave the stones for my ear lobes and not for my temples, I have the same dilemma every glasses wearer does when it's time for a night on the town. Should I go thick, strong, and bold in a black cat like Meryl Streep, or should I got incognito in a sweet, lighter look? For my sister's wedding I chose one of my favorites from Mykita. The Holly is bold but feminine and strong but sweet and I couldn't resist pairing finger waves with oversized studs and one of my absolute favorite frames for a dressed up and fancy look.

*Note the absence of dangling earrings. Don't go "crazy art teacher" on everyone and never let your earrings compete with the fabulousness that is sitting right on your face.

My Newest Frame: Morgenthal Frederics Claudia

MF Claudia

Sometimes you come from work, sad and dejected, ready to put on your yoga pants, pop an Amy's microwave meal in the oven and watch some recorded 'Modern Family', when all of a sudden you notice a little package on your front porch! What?! This box looks like it might house a gorgeous pair of glasses. Some days it's something less exciting from Amazon that you ordered at midnight with the "buy now" button on your iPhone that you forgot you purchased...other days it is something else entirely. Needless to say, when I came upon this PERFECT SUNNIE from Morgenthal Frederics on my front porch, I wanted to cry. Not only it is the most gorgeous sunglass - titanium, gold, gradient lens, super lightweight, a little catty - it was also completely unexpected. And if we've met, you know that surprising me with independent beautiful eyewear might just be the fastest way to my heart. Thank you to Jeff Press and Morgenthal Frederics for not only making my day, but making my everyday when I get to put these babies on and head to work. Love this frame, love you guys and can't tell you how badly every woman needs the Claudia from Morgenthal Frederics.

Frame of the Week: Patty Paillette

Pink from Patty

There's something about this frame from Patty Paillette that I just love...well, several things. Upsweep at the brow, two tone color combination, and a play on texture, this pink and cream combo from designer Patrizia Shelabarger for Patty Paillette makes me happy. A frame I'm positive I would pull off best with a sweet Summer tan, I love it.

Perfect Pair: RVS by V and Smythson

Pink Me.

I don't know why I'm loving pink right now. It's really not a color I normally gravitate towards, but I have realized that I tend to get compliments whenever I wear it...and who doesn't love compliments? Also, this RVS by V frame proves that pink can be equal parts cool and feminine which are two things I like being. RVS by V's classic Morro frame in this unexpected pink hue would match any rose tone and would look just as fab with pastels as it would paired with all black. The quality and craftsmanship of this frame will instantly elevate any optical wardrobe and I know this color will pair perfectly with the Summer "tan" I'm currently working on. Along with a Smythson crossbody that I want to wear daily, these two pieces are going in the must-have column.

Barton Perreira: Need vs. Need

Definite Need

In life, and especially in the world of luxury goods, there are those moments when you have to ask yourself as a consumer, "do I really need this?" The answer is almost always no. I say "almost" because there is an exception to every rule. When it comes to this frame from Barton Perreira, the answer is clear. I. Must. Have. It.

Impeccable, perfectly speckled and light as a feather, this acetate/titanium beauty dubbed the "Mary Jane" by Barton Perreira is essential to any woman's eyewear wardrobe. Enough to get me hot and bothered for eyewear all over again...cheers to the necessities.
