Shades of Purple: Claire Goldsmith Cooper

Purple Me.

I'm totally gravitating towards purples right now. I'm not sure if it's the change of season or that the sea of black, gray and beige that is my closet is begging for some jewel tones, but when I saw this gem from Claire Goldsmith I couldn't resist. The Cooper, by your favorite Lady Londoner, is gorgeous in matte purple (yes, I said matte purple) and is both sophisticated and playful. A classic shape with a little upsweep at the brow turns an office appropriate frame into a weekend stunner with a color that is anything but ordinary. This purple beauty pairs perfectly with a classic Fendi shopper that sports a little violet twist and Superga tennies that turn any outfit into a style statement. Whatever hue you're loving right now, don't forget to transform your look from the head down...Specs first people!

Shades of Gray

Sexy Smoke

Gray is the new black...and tortoise. A wardrobe neutral that you'll style with navy, green, purple, red, black, or brown, gray has the ability to bring even beige to an elevated level. My rundown of some sweet smoky specs in shades of gray that you'll adore, you can be geek or chic in a dusk frame.

Oliver Goldsmith Goes Nude!

I'll Have a Latte

Matte or shiny, these Oliver Goldsmith gems in Latte were some of my favorites of the entire optical show. A color I assume would wash me out, something about this beige hue just works...even on my decidedly Elmer's glue complexion! The Casper, an original style from 1971, and The Commandant, plucked from the 1964 archives, are everyday frames in a shade that will pair perfectly with whatever you're wearing. With my favorite Oliver Goldsmith color dubbed Mint Chocolate Chip, my affinity for describing inedible objects like they're food is made that much easier. Thanks Claire Goldsmith for making such yummy optical treats...this latte really is delicious!

Check out a real life instagrammed version here...and another new favorite in a metallic that I must have.

Fashion and Function: Transitions

To Transition or Not Transition

It really is the question...Transition lenses are not like they used to be. Stop associating them with that poor nerdy kid in the third grade whose lenses never really turned back to clear after recess and start thinking of them as being both fashionable and functional. While I always suggest a great polarized prescription sunglass for long walks on the beach or hikes on the mountain, a transition lens in your everyday specs is a convenient alternative to a full sunglass for those quick jaunts to the coffee shop or walks to get the morning paper. Also, we all know how cool those vintage OP's of yours will look as a sunglass. Maybe it's time to get the best of both worlds.
