Moonrise Kingdom and Garrett Leight

Moonrise Love.

If you haven't seen it, you must. Not only does my love for Wes Anderson make loving Moonrise Kingdom obligatory, the film itself happens to be heartwarming, charming, beautiful, confusing, whimsical, funny, sad and uplifting all rolled into one. I can't help but love it. Oh, and did I mention the stellar cast, perfect wardrobing and awesome eyewear? Moonrise Kingdom makes me want to wear vintage frames on a daily basis and definitely makes me want to brush up on my camping skills. It's not everyday you come across the perfect vintage B&L safety or "frame france" in crystal or champagne, so in the meantime, Garrett Leight's classicly cool frames offer the perfect Moonrise inspired styles that will not only give you Mr. Murray and Mr. Willis' looks, they will give you that extra authentic edge that eyewear always should. So close to my favorites from the film, I love Garrett Leight's Westminster in Demi-blonde, Kinney in Champagne, and Hampton in Chestnut. Now all you need is a satchel for all your survival essentials (bedtime reading included), a raccoon hat, and maybe some flair.

Wonder Years: A Family Photo

Love for My Aunt

I never had the pleasure of meeting her, but from what my Mom tells me, her sister and best friend, Sue, was one cool lady. Pictured here around 1962, I love everything about this image. From her Buster Brown haircut to her cat-eye frames and too cool T-shirt, I can tell she was really sweet and a little bit of trouble. With a style that's right back en Vogue, you can get this adorable look with sweet catty specs. I'm also kind of inspired to take the whole menswear trend to a sporty place. Who wants to bring the Rugby shirt back? Love.

Inspired: Marilyn and Miller

Marilyn Loves GLCO

Eye Elegance just tweeted this picture and said "She really loves those glasses" - and to that I say "How couldn't she?!"...Arthur Miller wears his signature playfully serious spectacles that took his look from black tie chic to downtown cool on more than one occasion. Garrett Leight's Harding is a dead ringer for Mr. Miller's sweet specs and while the glasses don't make the man, they can create some serious curb appeal. A look that might just get you the girl, you can find Garret Leight's Harding here, see more GLCO here and follow Eye Elegance on Twitter here.

More Pics of Arthur Miller in his GLCO doppleganger: here, here, here, and here - kind of awesome.

Mykita Does the Decades

Mad for Mykita

Is it just me or is Madmen getting too far into the 60's? No longer can I call my his and hers pairings "The Don and The Betty" and way too many full-skirted waist-cinching frocks are being tossed out for high-necked mini shifts and leggy Canadians. I'm not sure I like the change. Plus, "The Don and The Megan" just doesn't have the same ring to it. These two Mykita's make me want to get back to 1961, when Don was a simple sociopathic philanderer and Betty was a scorned housewife itching for a dirty bar hookup and a little psychotherapy. These two frames, The Ernest and The Holly are the perfect Don and Betty pair. Decade pieces that incorporate the style of the past with the technology of the future; they are super light, very durable, and pretty adorable. Mykita seems to have a hard time getting it wrong...Don Draper, on the other hand, he's total trouble. Check out Mykita's decade frames here and purchase them here.

Lucy, I Love Those Glasses

Mostly Because, Who Doesn't Love Lucy?

I love everything about this image...the specs, the scarf, the dress. To all designers reading, if you duplicate this frame I will be your first real world wearer. I can't promise I won't put transitions in it though...and maybe even those new crazy ones with variable polarization! Thank you in advance.

Might As Well Be Another Gosling Post...

Olivia Wilde

Mostly because I love this frame, but also because I adore everything about this shot, here's Olivia Wilde photographed by Guy Aroch from 2010. Also, I've never seen the smoky eye look so good with specs...hmm, maybe I need to revisit that Jemma Kidd tutorial...
